April Meeting:

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Elegance at 7:00 PM on April 12, 2008 by President Kerry Hinkley, K4ZED. 

20 members and/or visitors were present.

The Treasures report was given by Secretary Ron Larsen, W9QGB for Secretary Wilson Smith, W7GAM. who was absent.

The minutes were provided by web page and accepted as written.

NEW BUSINESS:

Visitors were introduced which included Peter Kelleher, KC1SS and his Wife and Son and Merrell Roland, KD4BYL.  Peter Kelleher paid his dues and became a member of SAARS.

Don Crist, K4UBT provided us with updates on Field Day plans.  Included in the updates were the fact they we plan to hold a tail gate session so everyone bring any ham gear to trade or sale.  Don also went over the other activities that would be available such as canoes and pontoon boat rides. Don explained that things are coming together and that we are working on a band plan and equipment needs.

Parky Boone, W4YVX reported that the new library on the beach was looking for Amateur Radio Operators to put on a demonstration of Amateur Radio equipment and operations from 10AM to 4PM on May 31. 2008.

It was reported that the Gainesville Amateur Radio Society would be holding their Hamfest on April 26..

A report was made on Don Dombrowski.  It was reported that he was home and mending from his accident.

The Meeting was Adjourned at 8:00 PM for light refreshments.

 

VE TESTING SCHEDULE:

The Society has a  regular location/time to offer Amateur Radio License Testing . Tests are currently held at  the Memorial Lutheran Church at 3375 U.S. 1 South, St. Augustine, Florida 32086.  The test takes place in the church library.

Wilson Smith, W7GAM, the Society's Head VE  has announced that regular testing of all license grades will be offered on alternate months on the 2nd Saturday.  Walk-ins are welcome, the time and place is 10 AM at the Memorial Lutheran Church at 3375 U.S. 1 South, St. Augustine, Florida 32086. Club Activities and Net Operations:

Members and friends of SAARS meet socially each Friday at 12:00 noon at Shaughnessy's Grill. Shaughnessy's Grill is located at 4255 US 1 south (in the Publix Shopping center).  We informally discuss anything ham radio related and ok, some things not related to ham radio at all.  We do have a great time.  Come join us.

SAARS Weekly 2 Meter Net - Wednesdays 7:00 PM - 146.625 mHz. (Currently, Parky Boone, W4YVX is the Net NCS) 

St. Johns County ARES Net - Wednesdays 8:00 PM - 145.210MHz or 147.015MHz repeaters.

Flagler County ARES Net - Wednesdays 7:00 PM - 145.470mHz. (Tone 123.0)

Duval County ARES Net - Wednesdays  7:30 PM - 146.760 mHz. (Tone 127.3 cps.)
